People often want to do more than just say thankyou, they want to convey their thanks with a small token to show the extent of their thanks. Traditionally the giving of flowers has always been a cheap or even free (if the flowers are from your garden or wild flowers you picked) way of expressing thanks. Flowers are a gift that can be given to anyone regardless of age or sex, and their beauty and innocence can be appreciated by all.
There is not an occasion for which you cannot say thankyou with flowers; if we look at life everyone from the youngest child who picks a wildflower from the grass through to the chief executives of major companies give flowers to express their thanks. Think of the curtain calls at the theatre, the leading players are often given flowers to thank them for their performances, sportspeople too are given flowers as way of thanks by adoring fans – the ice is quite often littered with flowers after a figure skater competes.
In this current climate of political correctness flowers are one of the only gifts that can be given to anyone at anytime without their meaning being misconstrued or ambiguous. Flowers can be given by subordinate to superior or superior to subordinate in a work situation, by the old to the young or vice versa, by members of either sex to the opposite sex or members of the same sex. Flowers are universal!
Flowers are also a thank you gift that bridge social and economic gaps, the gift of flowers is accepted by rich and poor without the giver being assessed as to the cost of the gift.
In short flowers are the perfect way to say thankyou, or I appreciate you or what you did in a way that stays true to the message.
